Balloon decoration ideas that work in a real Pune flat

Updated 2 October 2026 · Pune

The balloon ideas that work in a flat are the ones built against one wall: a half arch on a frill curtain, a ceiling cloud over the cake table, and a floor spill underneath. Spreading balloons around the room looks thinner in photos than concentrating them in one frame.

Start with the camera, not the room

Every home celebration ends up as fifty photos taken from roughly the same spot. Decide where people will stand first, then decorate the wall behind that spot and nothing else. One finished wall photographs better than four half-decorated ones, and it costs less.

The half arch on a frill curtain

The most reliable setup in a flat. A shimmer or frill curtain covers the wall, and a balloon arch sweeps from the floor on one side up across the top corner. It hides whatever the wall actually looks like, it works in any paint colour, and it gives the photo a diagonal instead of a flat band.

The ceiling cloud

Balloons clustered on the ceiling with ribbons hanging down, usually over a cake table or a bed. It is the one idea that changes how the whole room feels rather than just one wall, and it needs a ceiling you can fix to — plaster and false ceilings are fine, exposed concrete is not.

Floor work, which most people skip

A loose spill of balloons along the floor under the wall setup is cheap, takes minutes, and is the single biggest difference between a setup that looks finished and one that looks like it stops in mid-air. Ask for it in any package that does not include it.

Colour combinations that photograph well indoors

  • Black and gold — highest contrast, works against any wall, the default for adult birthdays
  • Rose gold and white — soft under warm indoor light, best for anniversaries and bridal setups
  • Pastel mix — reads young without looking childish, the usual pick for first birthdays
  • Blue and silver — cool-toned, holds up under white LED lighting
  • Red and white — strong in photos but needs warm light or it goes orange

Ideas by room

  • Hall: wall arch plus floor spill, the standard. Keep the TV out of frame.
  • Bedroom: ceiling cloud over the bed with petals, the first-night and anniversary setup.
  • Entrance: a doorway arch, which is what a welcome-home or baby-welcome booking is.
  • Balcony or terrace: fairy lights carry the setup, balloons support it; weighted bases, not stands.
  • Kitchen or dining: a cake-table cluster and a small backdrop is usually enough.

Two things to get right before the decorator arrives

  1. Clear about two metres of the chosen wall and move furniture away from it.
  2. Decide where the cake table goes, because the backdrop is centred on it.

What we do not use

No helium or gas-filled balloons, for fire safety. Air-filled balloons on frames and curtains do everything a helium setup does indoors, and they hold their shape for the whole evening instead of sinking after a few hours.

Questions people ask

How many balloons do I need for a wall decoration?
Around 80 to 120 balloons covers a single feature wall of about 6 by 7 feet. A full arch across a larger wall takes 150 to 200. Below 80 the wall starts to show through.
Do balloon decorations stay up overnight?
Air-filled balloons on a frame hold for a day or two indoors. Heat and direct sun shorten that, so an outdoor terrace setup is best booked for the evening it is needed.
Do you use helium balloons?
No. We do not use helium or any gas-filled balloons, for fire safety. Every setup is air-filled and built on frames, curtains or ceiling fixings.
Will the decoration damage my walls?
No. Fixings are low-tack tape and removable hooks chosen for painted walls. If your society or landlord does not allow anything on the wall, say so when booking and we switch to free-standing frames.
Can I choose my own balloon colours?
Yes, at no extra cost. Pick a palette on the setup's page or write the colours you want in the booking note.
